Describe A Good Poker Player

It does not mean that when a player won the game, does it mean that he is the better poker player. A player with more playing experience and with firmer grasp on poker strategy may also consider as a good player. Someone who is questioning calls and generally failing to recognize the mistakes is obviously a person who has a big problem and insecurity.

A player can never be a really good poker player if he already think he is a good player. Some are insulted by the truth. Some are hesitant to question his ability or ask what he can do to improve his game. A player can never improve without critical self-analysis and his progress will be slow.

It is hard to tell if a person is a great poker player. A player who played poker with many years and competed with skilled players can see great progress with their game but others have stagnated. The poker players who have improved are those actively sought to improve their poker game.

A player with uncontrollable ego can damage poker game. In order to compete with the opponents, a player must work very hard, play lots of hours, and study weaknesses.  A good player is someone who finds time studying the game and not fooling around pretending he is the best player in the world.

Poker as a Career

Majority of people seems to believe that poker is gambling and there are limits and restrictions put on it as if it is a vice that people cannot control. They think poker is a game that needs supervision from parents. Every player knows that poker involves great skill. There are people who are not just good but also great players and they even take it to the next level, preparing for poker as if it is a career.

Maybe, if there is a poker degree available in college, they would definitely enroll now. I have seen successful professionals who have decided to quit their jobs for a thought of having a great poker career and would better be served in the game of poker.

It is tough to say whether it is a good decision to leave the corporate world just to pursue a career in poker. What if poker doesn’t work out?

Poker Mathematics

Use poker mathematics to beat the game

Poker is a game of skill and it is a game of mathematics. You can calculate the odds of either you or your opponent winning the hand in any situation. It can give you an advantage to win and it can improve your game over players that do not use them.

Mathematics most commonly used when a player is on a draw such as a flush or straight draw. You will face a decision if you are on a draw and your opponent makes a bet. A player with good knowledge of poker mathematics will know whether or not to call and will always be sure to make decision.

You should estimate and analyze if your opponent is bluffing and having a worse hand. If you keep making the right decisions based on odds, you will end up making more money.

Colorful Poker Chips

How long have you been playing? Have you ever ask yourself about poker chips? It’s quite funny to accept that when I was a newbie and when I was starting to explore and play poker. I did not know the use of the poker chips. Stupid, right?. So, I learned that not all poker chips are created equal. There are kinds of poker chips such as clay, plastic, and metal poker chips.

Find out how many chips you will need for your game. Let me classify the types of poker chips below.

CLAY POKER CHIPS
This is the fanciest kind of poker chips and has a nice heft, and weigh from 8 to 11.5 grams a piece.

METAL POKER CHIPS
You can see these poker chips most of the time on the casinos. A kind of poker chips that are made of a metal core surrounded by plastic and weigh either 8 to 11.5 grams.

PLASTIC POKER CHIPS
The cheapest poker chips best recommend to beginners.

It is better to have extra poker chips if ever you are unsure of how many of you will play the game. I would recommend buying 200 chips for 3 to 4 players, 400 chips for 5 to 6 players, 600 chips for 7 to 8 players and 800 chips for 8 to 10 or more players.

The elderly nurse, all fussy about her new discovery, confides in her assistant a beautiful hot blonde, of course stating the strange location of the tattoo. The younger blonde nurse, a poker fan tries to explain to elderly nurse what the phrase "RUSH" states in poker. After all these explanation the hot blonde nurse makes up her mind up and sneaks to see the talked about tattoo herself. She comes into the poker player's room and starts "examining
him herself" As she bends over our poker player is presented with her voluptuous, the young nurse wastes no time and reaches around in search of the tattoo. A few minutes go by and the younger blonde nurse bumps into the elderly nurse and smilingly she says to her, "I guess I got the wrong room, I also saw a poker player, but his tattoo said:

'R O Y A L F L U S H'."

Basic Poker

Winning poker hands are determined by rank. If two or more hands are in the same category, the best hand is determined by the rank of cards. For instance, two players might hold Four-of-a-kind, but four Jacks beats four sixes.

Rank of Cards (in descending order): ACE, KING, QUEEN, JACK, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.

All suits are of equal rank in poker.

1. STRAIGHT FLUSH.
Sometimes a ROYAL FLUSH (the best Straight Flush) is considered to be a separate category. A Straight Flush is five cards in consecutive order all of the same suit.

A Royal Flush is A-K-Q-J-10 of the same suit. With any Straight, including a Straight Flush, the Ace can be used low. Therefore, 5-4-3-2-A of the same suit is a Straight Flush (but it's only 5-high and would lose to 6-5-4-3-2 of the same suit, even though the first hand contains an Ace.) The higher high cards determine the relative rating of Straight Flushes.

2. FOUR-OF-KIND.
Such as 4-4-4-4-K. The relative rating, if two or more hands vie in this category, is determined by the strength of the four cards of the same rank, not by the odd card.

3. FULL HOUSE.
Three-of-a-Kind with a pair. The relative ratings are determined by the rank of the Three-of-a-Kind, not the pair.

4. FLUSH.
Five cards of the same suit. If there are two (or more) flushes tied, the higher card wins. If this is a tie, then the next card determines, and so on. Therefore, A-K-9-4-3 of Hearts beats A-K-8-7-6 of Spades.

5. STRAIGHT.
If there are two (or more) flushes tied, the higher card wins. If this is a tie, then the next card determines, and so on. Therefore, A-K-9-4-3 of Hearts beats A-K-8-7-6 of Spades.

6. THREE-OF-A-KIND.
If more than one player holds Three-of-a-Kind, the rank of the three matched cards determines the winner.

7. TWO PAIR.
The highest Pair determines the winner if two players (or more) have Two Pair. If both high Pairs are the same, then the better remaining pair determines the winner. For instance, 9-9-7-7-4 beats 9-9-6-6-A. If both Pairs tie, then the unpaired card determines the winner. Therefore, 8-8-4-4-7 beats 8-8-4-4-5.

8. ONE PAIR.
If tied, the higher Pair wins. If both Pairs are the same, the highest remaining card wins down to the last card, if necessary. For instance, A-A-K-4-2 beats A-A-Q-J-10 and K-K-9-8-3 beats K-K-9-8-2.

9. NO PAIR.
The winner is determined by rank of cards only. A-7-6-4-3 beats K-Q-J-10-7 and Q-8-7-6-5 beats Q-8-7-6-4.

There will occasionally be ties in poker. When this happens, the pot is divided evenly among the winners.
